200hr Aster Yoga Teacher Training Prerequisites

A curiosity for a deeper understanding of yoga on and off the mat, and the ability to be open to a beginner’s mindset.

It is recommended that you have taken at least 3 yoga classes at Sonder Whole Fitness so that you are familiar with our teaching style and align with our philosophy.

There is no expectation for your ability to do any particular yoga poses. You will be met at this training exactly where you are and we will progress together as a YTT community. There is also no requirement for an intention to actually teach yoga. Many students find YTT a deeply personal aspect of their yoga journey.

Prior to the first in-person weekend, all YTT students will complete 20 hours of online education and read 3 books.

200hr Teacher Training Breakdown

At the conclusion of this training you will be able to confidently teach powerful vinyasa flow yoga classes, meditation, and restorative yoga practices. You will have a firm foundation in Yoga philosophy, ancient texts, modern-day spirituality, trauma-informed approaches, and self discovery practices.

You can expect:

75 hours of learning to teach asana, meditation, pranayama & subtle body

50 hours of the art of vinyasa, cueing methods, musicality, marketing

30 hours of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics

30 hours of yoga history, philosophy and ethics

15 hours of mindfulness, dharma and the power of vibration

*Schedule will vary as will expectations for Non-Teaching Option students.

A Word on Authenticity

Life is achingly beautiful and yet, messy too. Sometimes at the same time. This is often what leads people to become yoga-curious. We know. Then, at some point, yoga becomes a source of awakening, limitless joy, healing and transformation. The path to possibility is illuminated, and it seems a magnetic pull to share the growth that yoga provides outside of your own experience. Authenticity creates true connection - it is time for you to share your authentic voice. The world is ready to hear you!

Mindful Resilience for Trauma Certified - Veterans Yoga Project

Specializes in the art of Vinyasa flow

I am a mother of two grown boys and a military spouse of over 29 years.  I began my practice in 2006 and quickly realized the physical, mental and emotional benefits that yoga offered.   I completed my yoga training in 2013 while living in Seagrove, FL and have since taught class in both group and private settings in Panama City Beach, Tampa and the Washington DC area.

The beauty of Yoga begins from within. Through movement, stillness, intention and devotion, all creating balance within the heart, we learn to trust the fluctuations before us. As a Yoga teacher, I devote myself to meet you where you are on this journey we call ‘life’. Allowing for a shift of the spirit to unravel and align to your highest potential. I believe that when we can tap into the quiet spaces between the thoughts, there is peace that naturally is set forth into the world. It is there that alignment happens, mindfulness enters and love overflows.

Mindful Resilience for Trauma Certified - Veterans Yoga Project

Since 2012 I have taught over 6,000 hours of mindful movement in the USA and Europe. I founded Sonder Whole Fitness in 2020 to create an inclusive community where energy could be shared.

Through Yoga, I’ve learned to observe life as art. Each messy and memorable moment is integral, and not to be missed. Yoga teaches us that communication should be gentle and that words create our world; that energy is reflected, and that we move beautifully when we are moved. Doubting the gifts we’ve been given and denying God’s will for our lives only takes away from who we truly are. My commitment as a Yoga teacher is to point out the vibrant beauty and fragile wonder of this world, and to serve each person who is ready to unlock their wildest potential. It is through my core values of gratitude and courage that I take each step forward.

Here’s what people are saying….

“You feel the rhythm in your bones. The drum beat starts to match the rhythm of your heartbeat, starts to match to the rhythm of your breath until all of a sudden you are just in this energy of oneness, connected with the drums, connected with the other people, connected with the deepest part of yourself." - Tara (Asheville)

VIBRATIONAL Connection: Contemplative Creatives

SUNDAY, APRIL 14th

Time: 4pm - 6pm
Location: The Phillips Collection

REGISTRATION OPENS FEBRUARY 1st (included in price of YTT)

Anthony Roth Costanzo performs with the world-renowned Shanghai Quartet. Anchoring the program is the world premiere of a new 25-minute work for string quartet and countertenor by Brazilian-American composer Marcos Balter, co-commissioned by The Phillips Collection and Chamber Music America.

Following the effects of the global pandemic, Balter focused his new work—titled Therapy—on concepts of catharsis and the healing potential of creativity, with fragmented text drawn from Gertrude Stein’s Tender Buttons. Balter chose Alfonso Ossorio’s Recovery Drawings from the Phillips’s permanent collection as inspiration. Ossorio sketched the 42 Recovery Drawings while in the hospital recovering from heart failure. The wildly evocative set of drawings proves that physical restrictions need not constrain imagination, and that limitations can be both generative and transformative.
